EWAS-PGC-PTSDsmallThe necessary but not sufficient role of the environment in PTSD development has led scientists to research the role of epigenetic modification. Epigenome-wide association studies (EWAS) of PTSD have provided replicable discoveries but have been modestly sized.

The Psychiatric Genetics Consortium (PGC) PTSD-EWAS working group will facilitate a multi-site EWAS of PTSD subjects and trauma-exposed controls. This highly collaborative working group currently includes over 20 investigators from all over the world and samples with methylome data of >1,700 subjects.
